Our Beliefs
Our Beliefs
WE BELIEVE that the Old and New Testaments are the divinely inspired, authoritative and completely reliable word of God. In the Bible, we find God’s revelation of the way for humanity to be reconciled to God through salvation and divine authority for living out the Christian life. (John 17: 17; 2 Timothy 3: 15-17)
WE BELIEVE that there is only one true and living God, who is the creator and sustainer of all things. God is sovereign, and there is no power equal to him. The doctrine of the Trinity is a mystery that we will never fully understand. God eternally exists in one essence, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (the Trinity). They are co-equal persons, possessing equally all the attributes of deity, yet performing distinct, but harmonious functions in the work of redemption. (Genesis 1-2; Psalms 147:5; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; John 10:30; Romans 1:20; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
WE BELIEVE that Christ Jesus is God’s son and the flesh manifestation of God in the world. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all humanity. He bodily arose from the dead, ascended to heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God interceding as our high priest and advocate. (Matthew 1:18-23; John 1:1-14; Acts 1:1-9; 2:29-33; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 4:14; 10:5-10)
WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is released to all believers at the moment of salvation, and that the simultaneous actions of spiritual rebirth (regeneration), baptism, indwelling, sealing and infilling, as well as the administration of spiritual gifts, are imparted. (John 3:1-8; 14:15-18, 25-27; 16:5-16; Acts 1:5, 8; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 12:7-11, 13; Titus 3:5)
WE BELIEVE that humanity was created in the spiritual image of God to be like him in character, but through willful choice, humanity fell into sin, causing fellowship with God to be broken. The substitutionary death and the resurrection of Jesus provided the means to reconciliation and restoration with God. And as a result, our primary Christian charge is to share the gospel message to the unsaved. (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:16, 3:24; Matthew 22:37-39; 28:19, 20; John 3:16; 15:8)
WE BELIEVE that salvation is God’s free grace gift made available to all humanity by the gospel, but it must be accepted by faith. Professing faith in Christ Jesus alone, for forgiveness of sins, is the only way that sinful humanity can be saved from the penalty of sin. (John 3:16; Acts 2:21; Romans 3:23, 24; 6:23; 10:3-11; Ephesians 2:8-9; Revelation 3:20)
WE BELIEVE that all believers who have been genuinely saved, through faith in Christ Jesus, cannot lose their salvation, because salvation is maintained by God’s grace and power alone. Those who are genuinely saved produce fruit that demonstrates repentance, through the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 3:16; 10:27-30; Luke 3:8; John 15; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Galatians 5:22-25;Ephesians 1:13-14; Philippians 1:6)
WE BELIEVE that God is love, and as God’s people, we are called and accountable to love one another by watching over, praying for, admonishing, exhorting, and encouraging one another. We are to also aid in times of physical need, cultivate and promote harmony and individually monitor our life and our teaching. (Matthew 18:15-17; John 13;34-35; Acts 2:42-47; 4:32-35; Galatians 6:1-2; Ephesians 4:2-3, 29, 31-32; 5:8-21; 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15; 1 Timothy 4:16; James 2:14-18; 5:16; 1 Peter 1:22; 3:8; 1 John 3:17-18; 4:7-8, 16)
WE BELIEVE that the Biblical model for marriage is between a man and a woman. (Genesis 2: 21-25)
